Mr Chana has been a wonderful consultant. I was fortunate enough to be sent to him for total knee replacement of both knees. From the start he was welcoming, reassuring, supportive and at all times made me feel like I was important.

I was referred to Mr Chana via the NHS and both knee replacements were paid for by the NHS. If I\'m honest I had a certain amount of fear going to a private consultant as an NHS patient but instantly meeting Mr Chana I knew I was going to be okay. Mr Chana treated me with the highest respect and never made me feel like an NHS patient in a private hospital. I cannot thank him enough for taking such good care of me and for doing superb surgeries. I have no doubt at all that his reassuring friendly manner gave me the confidence to go ahead with the surgeries and aided in giving me the confidence to trust my instincts.

He explained everything, took time to answer questions, understood my situation and most importantly always interacted in a manner that is professional, respectful and friendly. No arrogance and impatience at any time which is so refreshing.

I had heard many stories about knee replacements and wasn’t sure what to expect but once I met Mr Chana all my fears and doubts vanished. I knew I was with the right consultant and trusted him.

I had the left knee done on 27th April and the right knee done on 5th September. Both surgeries were extremely successful and my recovery rapid. The first surgery went so well and could bend my knee beyond 90 degrees within a week. I was walking without a stick within 3 weeks. The hydro therapy made the world of difference too.

Mr Chana was so happy with the results and progress he said we could go ahead with the second knee 3 months later. My work situation is a challenge so I had to wait until 5th September to get more time off work to do the right knee.

The second knee replacement went even better partly because I knew what to expect and what I could do. But it is also because Mr Chana does a great operation and made me feel relaxed and confident about everything. I was doing so well post op I was able to go home under 36 hours later because I could do everything physio required independently and with relative ease. I was able to walk without a stick within a week but still used it the second week when out of the house to make sure I walked completely upright without unbalancing.

I saw Mr Chana on the 21st September for a follow up and staple removal and got the all clear that I was walking normally and my mobility was moving at an impressive pace. I could get in and out of the car unaided in the first week. Could lift and bend my leg almost normally again within the week. I didn\'t expect to be as mobile so it was encouraging to hear that Mr Chana was impressed and that built a lot more confidence and was reassuring that I wasn\'t harming my recovery. Due to being so mobile and active I could have the compression stockings off - bonus!

It is hard to believe I have had 2 knee replacements within a 4 month period and could not have gone through it without having a consultant I felt at ease with, treated me with respect and was with me all the way, including helping me deal with my problematic work situation.

I can\'t thank Mr Chana enough not just for first class surgery but first class personal treatment.

I am extremely grateful to the NHS for sending me to Mr Chana and for giving me my mobility back – there couldn’t have been a better consultant and surgeon to have dealt with!

    Thanks you Mr Chana!
