I was refered to Mr Chana once it became apparent that the pain and difficulty I was experiencing following a full hip replacement the previous year was due to being fitted with the incorrect sized hip joint. I found Mr Chana's explanations and appraisal of my current situation very helpful. Unlike the original consultant, he clarifed the cause and effect of the pain and swelling. He was realistic and honest about the amount of improvement that I could hope for with a full hip revision. It is now four months since the second surgery and although there is still some residual damage from the first operation I am totally confident that Mr Chana has done all in his power to restore me to the best recovery possible. Throughout the hospitalisation he was attentive and patient, always prepared to explain any concerns and I was experiencing. After the condescension and disinterest that I received from the original surgeon, I had serious trust issues prior to embarking on the revision - the empathy and kindness received from Mr Chana helped to restore my faith in orthapaedic surgeons! His frank correspondence with my GP has helped me regain my equilibrium after a dreadful 18 months. Pre op, surgical, and post op experiences have all been extremely positive, I have felt that I was in safe and capable hands throughout this scary revision procedure.
